A home to make their own, couple find modern space fit for their new chapter
Amy and Giles were convinced that ‘fate was at play’ when they were looking for a new home, instantly falling in love with Orbit Homes’ Dovecote Gardens development near Old Catton.
Amy and Giles were living just a couple of miles away from Old Catton but sought a new home with a more modern and flexible layout, that they could add their own personal touch to. As keen cooks, they also wanted somewhere where they could make the kitchen the ‘hub’ of their home, as Amy explains:
“We felt we had outgrown our home. Not so much in the sense of space but more so due to its layout - 1970’s home layouts are not as convenient as modern-day layouts. The kitchen was tiny and we love cooking so really wanted to find a place where the kitchen could be the hub of the home, with plenty of space to socialise, cook and have fun!
“We also wanted something a little more ‘grown-up’ to reflect the stage of life we’re now in. A blank canvas we could put our mark on, start afresh and make new memories in.”
She recalls that the couple had actually got another style of home in mind, but instantly felt that Orbit Homes’ Cardington was perfect for them after seeing it:
“I think a bit of fate was at play. We hadn’t come across Orbit Homes before but put Dovecote Gardens down on our list to check out. If I’m honest, it was on the bottom of the list and not one we dreamt would end up becoming our top choice!
“Although, we initially visited to view the Ashley house type, it hadn’t been built yet, but the team had a fully completed Cardington design which was ready to move into, so we went to take a look and instantly knew we had to have it. The kitchen was exactly what we were looking for – spacious, light and airy. I love that it opens onto the garden. I feel a real sense of serenity here.
“Being a new build house, we also had the peace of mind that our home had been built to exact specifications and everything is brand new, so there would be no hidden gremlins to be found. Plus we have the security of a 10-year NHBC warranty.
Amy’s a hands-on individual but massively appreciated the support she and Giles received from the Orbit Homes teams, making the entire process so much smoother, noting:
“I have to say Rob and Pearl from the Orbit Homes team were absolute diamonds and by far the best sales team we saw when on our search. They are so personable and not remotely ‘salesy’ as some others were. I can honestly say that Rob’s relaxed style and approach was totally what ‘sold’ us so to speak.
“I’m a very organised and analytical person so tend to have a lot of questions but I can genuinely say, no question was too big or too small. Rob and Pearl were always on hand to help and reassure us at every stage. Always on the ball, always willing and always supportive.
