Aimee and Lewis find their place to call home with Shared Ownership at Compton Locks

We were pleased to hand the keys to their new home to Aimee and Lewis, who purchased at our popular Compton Locks development in Fenny Compton, Warwickshire.

As first-time buyers, they were excited to finally get a place of their own for their daughter Keira to grow up in. “We lived in Southam before with my parents, so it was definitely time for our own space,” Aimee told us. “We had been saving for a while but weren’t sure whether we would be able to get a mortgage as I was going on maternity leave but after taking advice, we realised that it was possible.”

They had been looking for a new build home as it would be low maintenance, and when they discovered Compton Locks which is nestled in a rural location, they knew it was the perfect choice, especially as there is a school in the nearby village of Fenny Compton, which will be ideal for Keira when she is old enough.

They chose The Honiton, a two-bedroom house: “We fell in love with the kitchen as soon as we saw it, and the open plan layout downstairs is great as it allows us to watch Keira while in the kitchen. The bedrooms are very large, and the big windows make the rooms a lot brighter.”

“We had looked at other new builds before, but this one stood out the most. We knew this would be our home as soon as we walked in, it had such a homely feel to it. The garden is a perfect size for us too.”

The couple purchased their home with Shared Ownership, which allows you to buy a share in a new build home and then pay a subsidised monthly rent on the remaining share. As the deposit required is based on the share you buy, rather than the full market value, it’s a more affordable way to buy a new home: “Buying with Shared Ownership was more affordable for us, especially as we were just starting a family.” 

Buying a home for the first time can often be stressful and the couple welcomed the support they received from the sales team during the buying process: “The Sales Manager and Tessa, the Sales Consultant were very good and helped us every way they could.”

The family are now settled in their new home and tell us: “Our friends and family love the house as much as we do! Our parents are immensely proud and love this for us, being our first home.”

“We love the countryside and the village like atmosphere at Compton Locks and are lucky to have lovely neighbours too.”
