“Coming home” to Compton Locks with the help of Shared Ownership
Meet Carl, who recently moved into his new Shared Ownership home at Compton Locks, our popular new development in Fenny Compton, Warwickshire.
Following a change in his personal circumstances, Carl was looking for a new place to call home and rather than renting privately, he was interested in buying with Shared Ownership, as it was a viable option for him and a more affordable way to buy a new home.
Buying with Shared Ownership offers the chance to purchase a share in a brand new home and pay a subsidised rent on the remaining share. Its flexibility allows you to buy further shares in the future as your circumstances change, until in most cases, you own the property outright.
During his search, Carl was delighted to find Compton Locks, situated on the outskirts of Fenny Compton, where he had previously lived. He loved the idea of “coming home” and made an appointment to view the show homes which he was impressed with: “I could see that the homes were well thought out with plenty of space, internally and externally”.
He also discovered that many “extras” are included as standard with our new homes, such as Amtico flooring and carpets throughout and integrated kitchen appliances, which all help towards making the cost of moving home more affordable.
Following an affordability check, Carl was able to reserve a three-bedroom detached house, offering plenty of space for his grown up children when they come to stay.
The process of buying through the Shared Ownership scheme may seem daunting, but Carl felt fully supported by our friendly sales team: “They kept me informed and effectively held my hand throughout the process for which I am immensely grateful”, he recalls.
Carl tells us what he loves most about his new home is the space and the location and says: “I feel as though I have returned home”. He thinks that the benefit of the Shared Ownership scheme is the affordability and security it brings: “It brings home ownership into the realm of people who may not otherwise be able to get onto the property ladder and I am confident that in the future I will be able to staircase and buy more shares in my home”.
