East Sussex family move into the ‘perfect’ new affordable home at Porters Grove, Hastings

Orbit Homes has welcomed its first residents to its new development of affordable homes in Hastings.

Among them is Joshua and his family, who have moved into a new two-bedroom affordable rent home and feel that they ‘couldn’t have asked for a more perfect house’.

Once complete, Porters Grove will offer over 200 homes in St Leonards-on-Sea in a partnership between Orbit Homes and Bellway. Under the arrangement, Orbit Homes is delivering 52 all-affordable homes, exclusively available for rent and Shared Ownership, including a range of two, three and four-bedroom houses as well as one and two-bedroom apartments.

For Joshua, the new home makes a huge difference for one of his daughters who experiences mobility issues: “Our previous home wasn’t on street level so I was having to carry my daughter up 11 steps just to get her into the house. Now, we have the drive right outside our home and my daughter can comfortably access the house independently and without needing assistance.”

With two young daughters, Joshua also appreciates the design of their private garden, “The garden is perfect for my two daughters. Having that outside space for them to play in helps so much and I really just thank Orbit for everything they’ve done to help us.”
