Engaged customers get a preview of our new heating technology pilot at Hanwood Park, Kettering

Last month, engaged customers David Glover and John Bennett visited Hanwood Park in Kettering, a collection of two and three-bedroom homes available to buy exclusively with Shared Ownership, for an in-depth tour of the development. Joining them was Orbit Homes Group Director, Helen Moore, Regional Managing Director Andrew McDermott, and members of the construction team.

Hanwood Park features our brand-new range of sector-leading house designs which have been matched against the RoSPA Safer by Design framework and includes our tenure blind all-inclusive design specification.

We are piloting new heating technology in one of our plots, including an Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP), underfloor heating and photovoltaic panels (PVP). Switchee thermostats have also been installed in this unit and an adjacent unit, to enable us to monitor energy usage between the two plots.

Commenting on the visit, David Glover, Chair of the Customer Engagement Strategic Committee and Resident Board Member, said: “The visit to Orbit Homes Hanwood Park site stood way out from the other developers on this Sustainable Urban Extension and on viewing the differing build types, especially the new rented version, showed care and consideration of renters needs, from design layout to choice of materials, colour choice and build quality, giving a homely feel to the property.

I was very interested in the piloting of different heat types including underfloor and air source heat pumps, it shows that the net zero carbon agenda is very much at the forefront of the new model design.”
