Moving onto the property ladder with Shared Ownership at Micklewell Park in Daventry

Meet Ben, 24, who has recently moved into a brand new apartment at Micklewell Park in Daventry.

He purchased his new home with the Shared Ownership scheme, which allows you to purchase a share of a new build home, usually between 25% and 75%, and then pay a subsidised monthly rent for the remaining share.  It’s a more affordable way to get onto the property ladder, as the deposit you need is based on the share you buy.

Ben had been house sharing with friends which was good fun, but felt it was time to get his own space.  He’d saved into a Lifetime ISA, and his search for a new home began when he had enough saved for a deposit.

The location of Micklewell Park, on the outskirts of Daventry was perfect for him and he chose his apartment because of the excellent countryside views from the balcony. The layout of the apartment was ideal too, as it has sufficient space for a big desk, allowing him to work from home. In fact, his friends and family say it’s much bigger than they expected and are now asking him to host dinner parties and get-togethers! 

Ben comments on what he loves most about his new home and the area: “Surrounded by the countryside, I can go for scenic walks without having to travel far.  I am close enough to shops and everything I need, but far enough to enjoy the outdoors”.
