Orbit Homes and WW Martin win award for Poppy Fields housing development in Kent

Poppy Fields, an affordable housing development in Ramsgate, has been named ‘Best Construction Project’ at the South East Construction Awards 2023.

The scheme, which is being built by WW Martin on behalf of Orbit Homes, will deliver 55 new affordable homes in Kent.

These highly anticipated awards were held at Sandown Racecourse on 25 April and celebrate the region's most outstanding main contractors who have carried out exemplary projects, demonstrating the highest levels of innovation, quality, sustainability, health and safety, well-being, and training. 

The Poppy Fields development will be completed later this year. It is a project which demonstrates best practice in design and construction and promotes innovative solutions to reduce carbon emissions as well reduce the cost of running the new homes for residents.

In announcing the awards, judges praised the project as an excellent example of how construction and development projects can be used to create far-reaching benefits for the local economy. They made specific reference to the lasting social value the scheme will bring to the local community and the cohesive vision being delivered.
