Orbit Homes plants over 300 trees at brand-new flagship development to celebrate National Tree Week
Orbit Homes has planted over 300 whips and semi-mature trees at its new flagship development, Micklewell Park, in Daventry.
Colleagues at Orbit volunteered their time to help plant the trees at the site as part of National Tree Week (Saturday 27th November to Sunday 5th December). Colin Dean, Sales and Marketing Director at Orbit Homes and Cllr Karen Tweedale, the Mayor of Daventry, attended the tree planting.
The event aligns to Orbit’s new ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) strategy which supports its vision to lead in building thriving communities. The strategy outlines Orbit’s commitment to reduce its carbon footprint, enhance its natural spaces, create, and improve places and spaces for its communities and develop and manage sustainable supply chains.
Colin Dean said: “We consider a home’s surroundings just as important as the living spaces inside. We don’t only want to protect habitats, but also enhance and enrich green spaces to encourage the local wildlife to flourish. Whilst our aim is to retain existing trees and hedgerows where possible to safeguard species and habitats, we are also excited to plant new trees and shrubs which will act as pollinators for bees and butterflies. Upon completion, Micklewell Park will be home to eight acres of newly planted woodland, wildlife corridors and a selection of bird boxes which we hope will enhance the environment and help to create a thriving community.”
The first phase of Micklewell Park is currently underway and is scheduled to be completed in March 2023, with 108 homes being delivered. The scheme will create over 450 new homes in total. The development will be embraced by nature and beautiful green spaces, designed for a desirable quality of life with sustainability as a key feature. Inspired by the scenic Northamptonshire landscape that surrounds it, Micklewell Park places the promotion of wellbeing at its heart, offering a sense of openness and being close to nature.
Micklewell Park is situated on the outskirts of Daventry, nestled in the Northamptonshire countryside overlooking the picturesque village of Welton. The development will feature a mixture of two, three, four and five-bedroom houses, as well as one and two-bedroom apartments, which can be bought at market sale. The shared ownership scheme will be available for two-bedroom homes and one and two-bedroom apartments.
The Government-backed Help to Buy: Equity Loan scheme is also available on selected market sale properties.
Micklewell Park will include new amenities, including two local stores and a new primary school, while a purpose-built community centre will be a hub where residents can meet up, relax, and enjoy a variety of activity groups and community events. A dedicated play area, electric car charging points, a bus stop, new towpath and 20 allotment spaces will also be integrated into this brand-new sustainable community, as well as eight acres of newly planted woodland.
