Orbit Homes to launch its first heat pump powered development in the East
We will be launching our first Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) powered development in the East, Liberty Park, which will comprise 50 affordable properties.
The homes in Rackheath, Norfolk, will each be fitted with an electric ASHP which takes energy from the air outside and converts it into heat, providing properties with hot water and heating. This energy efficient way of heating a home is low maintenance and can also help reduce the carbon footprint.
Enhanced cavity insulation will also be installed at Liberty Park, meaning less heat energy is required to maintain a comfortable temperature.
Liberty Park will also enhance the biodiversity of the surrounding area by introducing hedgerows along the boundaries of the site, sowing wildflower seeds in open spaces, planting apple and pear trees, creating bug hotels and installing bat and bird boxes on existing trees and new houses.
The development will feature our brand new sector-leading house designs, which have been matched against the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accident’s (RoSPA) Safer by Design framework and British Standard 5395-1 stairs to reduce the risk of falls.
The new homes in Rackheath will also include a brand-new specification, which offers all customers as standard:
- Induction hobs to reduce the risk of burns
- Lockable mirror fronted vanity cabinet with shaver socket in the bathroom
- Integrated kitchen appliances
- Recycling bins fitted as standard
- Four-piece bathrooms in many house types for flexibility and future proofing
- Electrical vehicle charging point infrastructure within curtilage of the property
- USB and data points in all homes
- Carpet and Amtico flooring throughout
- Fitted wardrobes in the main bedroom
- Turf to the rear garden
Liberty Park will comprise 100% affordable properties, offering 23 shared ownership and 27 affordable rent homes. A collection of two, three and four-bedroom houses will be on offer.
There will be an off plan preview launch to registered applicants in late October 2023, with the full show home launch taking place in January 2024. The first completions are expected in Spring 2024.
Andy Georgiou, Sales and Marketing Director at Orbit Homes, said: “Providing high-quality, sustainable homes is a priority for us, which is why I’m delighted to unveil plans for our brand-new development, Liberty Park. The installation of Air Source Heat Pumps at this site helps to drive our commitment to reducing customers’ reliance on fossil fuels and allows us to embrace renewable technologies.
“This 100% affordable scheme is located just six miles from the centre of Norwich in the village of Rackheath, which offers a range of local amenities, as well as excellent transport connections.
