Orbit Homes welcomes Peter Prinsley MP to Suffolk development of affordable homes
We recently welcomed Peter Prinsley MP for a tour of our Brook Gardens development in Elmswell, where the first of 65 new homes are nearing completion that will help to boost the availability of affordable homes in the area.
Brook Gardens, built on the former Grampian Country Foods Site at St Edmund’s Drive, comprises 65 new two, three and four-bedroom homes, including 31 for social rent and 34 for purchase through Shared Ownership.
During the visit, Peter viewed the new homes being built and heard about Orbit Homes’ tenure-blind approach, meaning that all residents will benefit from the same commitment to Orbit Homes’ sector-leading design, safety and customer service standards.
Orbit Homes also shared the sustainability features that are being incorporated at Brook Gardens, including energy efficient technology for homes such as solar PV panels, electric vehicle charging points and Air Source Heat Pumps, as well as measures to embrace biodiversity, such as providing shelter for wildlife through features like bird boxes, bat boxes and hedgehog-friendly fences.
The first new homes at Brook Gardens are expected to be completed shortly.
Peter Prinsley, MP for Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket, commented: “I was delighted to visit Brook Gardens and see how Orbit Homes is working to provide much-needed new affordable homes for the local area, and it was interesting to hear more about the sustainability plans for the site.”
Ray Winney, Regional Managing Director at Orbit Homes, said: “At Orbit Homes, we’re passionate about expanding the availability of quality, energy efficient and affordable homes. We were delighted to welcome Peter to Brook Gardens to show him how the development is progressing and share more about the sustainability features we’re installing at Brook Gardens, which can benefit residents and local wildlife.”
Brook Gardens is supported by funding from Homes England for the delivery of affordable homes.
