Planning for the future with Shared Ownership at Micklewell Park, Daventry
The Shared Ownership scheme is generally aimed at first time buyers to help them get a foot onto the property ladder, but it’s not just first time buyers that can be helped by the scheme.
Meet David and Julie who were planning for retirement and bought a new Shared Ownership home at Micklewell Park in Daventry.
Planning for the long term, they wanted to downsize and move away from privately renting and after researching their options, decided that Shared Ownership offered them the flexibility and stability they were looking for. It enabled them to purchase a share in their new home outright using their savings, without the need for a mortgage. They now pay a subsidised monthly rent for the unsold share which they see as a real benefit of the scheme: “Our new monthly rent is lower than our previous rental agreement.”
Preferring to stay in Daventry, the couple looked at several new developments, but decided to buy at Micklewell Park “Because of the value for money, excellent layout (good use of space), and high specification of the flooring and integrated appliances.”
The couple opted for a 3-bed Alpine house type, situated on a corner plot: “The layout makes the most of the available space. The construction and materials are of a high standard, but best of all is the countryside outlook from our front facing windows.”
It had been some years since they had bought a new home, and they appreciated the help they received from the Orbit Homes sales and build team during the buying process: “The sales team provided excellent guidance and support, keeping us informed at every stage.”

David and Julie moved into their new home this summer and anticipate reduced energy bills as we move towards the winter months: “Based on the incredible insulated loft and cavity wall insulation in our home.”
