Ready, steady, cook! New equipment for cookery club kids thanks to Orbit Homes
Cookery club kids at St Edmundsbury Primary School receive a £500 donation from Orbit Homes.
Based in Bury St. Edmunds, the cookery club aims to educate children on the importance of healthy eating and how to make affordable meals during the cost-of-living crisis. The donation was used to purchase cooking equipment and ingredients, including a freezer and utensils.
Ms Tucker, Acting Interim Head Teacher at St Edmundsbury Primary School, said: “We are delighted that Orbit Homes have given this £500 donation. It means that the club is now available to all pupils regardless of background. Having access to cooking in school provides children with an opportunity to engage with the process of cooking, work co-operatively together and understand the importance of nutrition.”
Sarah Price, Regional Marketing Manager at Orbit Homes, added: “As an affordable housebuilder, our impact reaches far beyond the homes we build and sell – we aim to make a positive impact on local communities too. It was a pleasure to make this donation and to be invited down to the school to see the cookery club in action. The children made pizzas and were set the challenge of putting a topping on that they had never tried before. It was great to see them getting stuck in and enjoying themselves.”
